We have just started a new series at the Crossing working our way through Genesis (the book of the bible, not the band). Over the course of the next couple of months we will be exploring the significance of the creation myths and using music, both sacred and "secular", to explore the imagery of the first book and chapters of the bible.
One of the first songs we will use in this series is "Glory to God Forever" by Steve Fee and Vicky Beeching which touches on the imagery of God speaking the world into being, found in the first chapter of Genesis and echoed in the Gospel of John. Musicians and singers in particular probably resonate with the imagery in the Narnia books of the world being sung into being by Aslan (the story's image of God). This song will certainly be a fixture of our repertoire beyond the creation series.
This new song by Jason Mraz is about as reverent a song about creation as you would ever here on commercial radio and is catchy too. A typical Mraz tune with it's word play and effortless melody this song embodies the Christian message of "loving thy neighbor as thyself" without directly referencing it. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
